Manuscript Consulting
Is your manuscript still in an early stage of development?
Or, do you have a full draft but it’s not quite working and you’d like editorial help?
For emerging writers or authors, I provide the full range of editing help from idea stage to final draft of a manuscript.View consult options

Would you like to invite me/Betsy to teach writers in your community?
I teach writing skills retreats, workshops, and courses across Canada and the UK.
Read moreI work with both established and emerging writers and each consultation is collaborative and unique. After an initial conversation or email exchange with a writer to identify their goals, I suggest an approach for the first consult. Usually this first consult, particularly with writers who are new to me, is a “testing the waters” one. I focus on a sample from their writing so that I can give them the editorial feedback and we can see if we are a good fit.
Which type of consultation would work best for you? The answer depends on your goals, the pace you want to work at, and what cost you can afford.
Work one-on-one with me. This plan allows you to set the schedule for writing and editing and the level of editing input you wish to receive. If you have a manuscript that is in full draft and find you are in need some editorial assistance, we can design a plan that suits you. I do a lot of manuscript work and work in all genres.
If a clearly defined program with a predetermined number of contact hours with a mentor appeals, you might consider enrolling in the Vancouver Manuscript Intensive program, which runs every year from January to June. VMI’s six-month container period means you’ll have deadlines which will sharpen your focus and help you reach the next—perhaps final—phase of writing your manuscript.
